Social Distancing Outdoor First Birthday Minishoot

I was so excited to meet these guys last weekend! I had to make their edit skip the line so I could get their gallery to them for their big girl's first birthday!

Because look at this.

LOOK at the perfection. She took steps! While I was there! While I was taking pictures! It was incredible!

But I'll back up.

OK, so I arrived, mask on, gloves on, and mama was prepared! She came outside in her mask and we strategized our 20 minute session. She told me the kind of pictures that made her most excited. She said she really just wanted to celebrate B and her big day - she wasn't into posed family stuff, she just wanted natural, playful stuff.

My FAVE! So while we were outside talking, before we started B wanted to see what we were up to. She stood right by the door looking out at us.

And we were off and running.

First we did tutu pictures. Priorities, y'all.

And we got to do some snuggle, closeup stuff...

This is where I take a second and say, GUYS. Do not worry about your outdoor spaces if you want me to come do pictures for you. Who, I ask you, has a baby in their house and has time to garden?

Seriously! Nobody has manicured gardens. I did a one year old's shoot last weekend for a family who lived in a Chinatown highrise. They wanted to do the Public Garden. I told them no, I don't like public spaces right now, I want to control our environment and not worry about places that get crowded on weekends...

And it was AMAZING. Can't show you those ones (some families ask me to keep their stuff off the internet and I don't mind doing that one bit) but trust me! We just wandered around and used a really cool parking lot that happened to have gorgeous bouncing light and the bricks went to a blur behind the little girl... it was FINE. More than fine. It was awesome.

OK, but I digress. Basically this is just me saying it's about your baby, not about the backgrounds, k?

'Cause look at this FACE! Do you care that those are green leaves behind her or a blurry brick wall? Nope. She'll smile like that at her daddy no matter where she is.

It was divine and wonderful and perfect to see you guys.

At the 20 minute mark, madame was starting to feel a little tired anyway, so boom, a daddy snuggle and that's a wrap.
