A few weeks ago, on a warm and sunny August day, I headed to Norwell, MA, for a newborn family portrait session.
I actually first spoke with this mama last spring when she was pregnant with J, because she was considering one of my maternity photoshoots. Ultimately, they decided to wait to do photos until after J was born—and that meant I got to come in, meet them, and immediately experience their family-of-four-ness.
Lifestyle Newborn Family Portraits
As a lifestyle newborn photographer, it always means so much to be invited to document an entire family, all together. We had so much fun throughout the whole session, from start to finish. At the very beginning of the shoot, we ran around outside. It was totally fun and crazy, and I loved it.
One of my favorite images of the whole day is that first on the top of the page - the one where Dad has G up in the air, with Mom and J in the background by the swing set -- pure fun.
I couldn’t get enough of big sister G. She has the most hilarious, fun-loving personality. It was an absolute joy to get to know her and photograph her. I can already tell J is going to be adore having her as his big sister.
And don't you love the difference in facial expressions between baby J on the left in this next photo, and baby J on the right? (Guess which was taken before he had a little snack, and which one was after. Adorable either way, but yay for snacks! Hehe.)
We also got some quieter moments and images when we went indoors with J. These are so gentle -- a nice contrast to the crazed outdoor fun times.
J pushes himself up like a champ! And nothing beats the smiles when his family hangs out with him nice and close.
J is going to have a lot of fun as he gets older and gets to spend his days playing with G. For now, though, she’s extremely loving and caring with him. Just look at this whole set of newborn family photos — G is absolutely in love with her new baby brother.
Thank you so much for inviting me into your home. I loved soaking up all your warmth and adored being part of your lives for an afternoon. I hope to see you again soon.
