Meetcha at the beach!

Met these three cuties at their beach house a week or two ago – and we had such a fantastic time. And I had to post these in color. I know you guys have heard me tell my color vs. b&w story a zillion times (if you haven’t it’s about 3/4 of the way down this page), but this be bright beachy photoshoot just screamed color to me.

These boys have such fun together – I always love the energy and fun vibe at their house. I loved getting a chance to hang out with them while they splashed in the waves.

Even though it was high tide, we still found ways to have fun and play.

Really fun to hang out with you guys as always!

Catching dragonflies and ziplining

I love meeting new families! So often I get to go back and see children grow year after year – but it’s a really fun change of pace to get a chance to jump in and meet a pair of kiddos for the first time when they’re a bit older: already running around catching dragonflies and zooming along on their zipline.

So here, without further ado, is 7 1/2 year old R and 5 year old M with their super-fun parents:

Wonderful to meet you guys!

Two fine young swordsmen

I’ve been taking pictures of these two fine young swordsmen since they were babes in arms (wee newborns, both of them!) and I just adore getting a chance to see how they’re growing and getting more amazing every time.

It was – all swords – all the time – for these guys this visit.

I truly love swords. Really couldn’t be cuter.

Four of ’em, daring to be true

Around the holidays last year one of my sister’s best high school friends called me and said that she wanted to give a group photoshoot to three of her friends from high school who’d all had babies in the last few years. I got excited right then – couldn’t wait to make this one happen; and this past Sunday it did.

Nothing beats four little mini-Miltonites playing in the water.

This one reminds me of their mamas in the dining hall not too long ago.

So in age order, we had… Ms. J

Mr. G:

Ms. J:

And Mr. M:

Rock band.

So much fun! Love love love.

The ladies, a few years later

So I first met nearly 10 year old K when she was just a few months old (eek!) and then I came back and met four year old S when she was just a few months old… and a couple of weeks ago I got to come back and blow bubbles and pick blackberries and watch extraordinary Karate demonstrations with these two (much older now) lovely little ladies.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. I adore punctuating childhoods like this. Popping in and out – getting a chance to see what kids are up to, who they are today… it’s the best.

And without further ado, the fabulous K and S.

This one might be my favorite – I love the way S is watching how K does the move…

I also love this one – the blackberry in the middle, everybody focused on what they’re doing…

Wonderful to see you guys again!

Two boys and the colors of summer

I always love to play outside. Sometimes New England weather doesn’t cooperate, but sometimes it does. Sometimes small people think the grass tickles their toes too much, or the distracting wind is blowing in the trees too much… but sometimes it just works. You never know.

I’ve known these two cutie boys since big brother K was just a couple of months old. And this is little brother C’s fourth photoshoot – he’s doing the five shoots in his first year package just like his big brother did (one of my Baby’s First Year packages), which is great because it means we can do things like take big brother K’s 5 year pictures at the same time as we do C’s 9 month pictures.

That means we get two (adorable brother) birds with one (really fun, jumping, crazy, loving photoshoot) stone.

Aaaand you guys know my thoughts on color vs. b&w (see halfway down this page), but sometimes it takes over and I just have to blog it.

The third two year old brother

This is the third time I’ve visited these guys, and we always do it when one of the brothers turns two. What a fun tradition! I love punctuating childhoods like this. What fabulous crew.

Wonderful to see you guys! Hope we can keep up the every-two-years tradition! Easier to have me come back for everybody’s eight year old pictures than to keep adding two year olds to the family ;)

Wow, what fabulous pictures. They really capture the boys and their spirits wonderfully, just like the photographer did with Colin and then, Owen. Great family.

A last burst of summer…

OK, I’m anticipating my Public Garden Minishoots this weekend, looking ahead at a wonderfully busy fall, but what better to do when fall is upon us — let’s take a few minutes remembering summer fun.  I’ve taken forever to blog this fun family that I met in July, sorry guys – I took a little blogging break this summer, but I wanted to get this posted because the colors at the beach that day were so fun.

Not to mention how fantastic these giggling girls were…

Janna Schwartz - September 25, 2013 - 10:49 pm

Thanks Jess for these treasured photos we’ll enjoy for years to come!

A colorful summer boy

I know, I know, I always blog my b&w pictures – but I always show everybody all their photos in both color and b&w… and sometimes a photoshoot just blows my mind with its color. Usually it happens with older children, when we’ve been outdoors and running… and this 4 year old dude is no exception. I’ve been taking his pictures since he was mere weeks old – can’t believe he’s FOUR!

I love going where families love to go – these guys live in Scituate by the water, so we were able to start at home, play in the sprinkler and around the yard, and then head over to the beach for some quick lighthouse / beach fun pictures. I don’t consider myself a typical beach photographer – we get different kinds of playing pictures at the beach, not so posey… but the blue sky that day (a week or so ago) just made me so happy. I think it did the same for 4 yr old K and his hermit crab friends. Can’t wait to meet your new little one in a few short months!

Brother adventures

Oh I love going back a year later! Don’t get me wrong, it’s wonderful and amazing to chronicle babies throughout their first year (now I feel like I need to link to the Baby’s First Year package), but there’s this incredible fun surprise for me when I take one set of photos when a baby is first born, and then I get to arrive at the house and walk in the door a year later and find this little tiny person, doing so many amazing things.  They just change so much in that first year, it gets me every time.  These two guys are no different… and big brother C I’ve seen since he was a little tiny munchkin too – and he’s now a big boy of three.  This shirtless reading picture of the two of them kills me. Kills me. Adore.

So this August 30th photoshoot marks the official last shoot of the summer for me. Now on to the craziest month of the year… FALL! It’s the best. My schedule is here if you’re interested.

Cuties!

The house where it all began

Back in the mid 70s a young couple bought this house – and I wonder if they ever imagined that more 30 years later, they’d stand out front with their handsome progeny all assembled like this:

With just their grandchildren:

Kiddos alone:

I bet they knew, even back then, that the back yard would be perfect for summer playtime:

The first brave sprinkler jumper-inner, after a good soaking:

With sprinkler help from mom:

And dad:

Exploring with Uncle M:

Hand washing in the hose:

It was so fun to see you guys!

Love, energy and sprinklers

Now about two and a half years ago I took pictures of this extraordinary big sister, but I did it at her grandma’s house, as a surprise for her parents. She’s a strong, amazing 5 year old with some special needs, and now she’s a fantastic big sister to her new brother B. I loved taking pictures at her home this time with her parents and her brother.

First we’ll introduce little B – he’s 3 months old:

And he gets a real kick out of his dad:

Speaking of dad – with Father’s Day coming up this weekend I had to include this one for you guys.  Look at that arm strength on little Miss – giving a real big strong hug.

The moment between mom and dad here was so perfect, I had to include it.  I love the way they’re looking at each other.

Now on to Miss H – with her infectious smile:

Over mama’s shoulder:

And everybody flying:

I really love this moment, too, as Mama watches H practicing her walking with Daddy:

And last but not least, the sprinkler. Nothing beats the sprinkler in the summer!  SO fun to see you guys again.

Jess the pictures look GREAT!!!! I also love the picture of Tom and I looking at each other at the park. What a perfect moment that I didn’t realize you captured. I’m glad you got Miss H’s personality in the pictures! Your amazing and look forward to doing this again!
