Westfield NJ newborn photos with her big sister

On Friday after school my kids and I hopped in the car in Milton, MA and grabbed my husband from work so we could drive down to Westfield, NJ to (finally) take newborn photos of my beloved college roommate’s new baby.

A busy time of life: but still time for newborn photos

They’re deep in it, guys. You can picture it — they have a 22 month old and a 2 month old. They’re busy! But this also means they’re card-carrying members of that elusive, ephemeral club that I love to document: the two under two club.

We’re talking that time of life when you’re feeding the newborn and you have to call out to the twenty-two month old and suggest she wait to go up the stairs until she has someone with her… it’s a lot.

But I’m so grateful that we took the time to do these newborn photos! Photos are so precious when we’re able to do them at this time of life — so we can remember the way big sister was so loving with her baby sister… the kisses on the top of her head, the gentle pats B gave M… just so much love.

Love just bursting, bubbling, oozing out of them, all the time. Joy, love, gratitude… they have all of it in spades.

I adored meeting miss M, and loved seeing big sister B. And they even indulged me and let me do a wall consulting meeting while I was there! May as well peek at frames and talk about what to hang where when we’re shooting pictures, right? Why not?

Ten days old and just so squeezable

Look who arrived on his due date! This incredibly perfect little person joined Amy and Jason just about two weeks ago, and the joy in their house is palpable. So much love.

And apologies in advance – this is wayyyy too many photos for a blog post but I just had such a hard time choosing.

Look at those eyes!

His expressions cracked me up :)

Teenie boy :)

His big feline brother seemed a bit interested…

Adventures with a cutie

He was born 6 weeks early, but as his mama put it: in these last nine months he’s been making up for lost time! He loves his yummy soft foods (how perfect are those light eyes caught by the light coming in the window?)  And the one where his parents are blowing in his face to get him to laugh? I love his expression :) I think the one where his mama is kissing his cheek might be my favorite, though.

What a fun photoshoot – thanks so much for inviting me out!

Spring Public Garden Photoshoot #3

So I’m not doing my normal pick a bunch of my favorite pictures and post them on the blog thing because this photo is blowing me out of the water. I adore it so much, and love that it happened super spontaneously.  These fantastic, fun parents wanted to do a smoochy picture, and the rest of the clan decided to show how they really felt about the smooch. It’s one of those staged but not staged shots, and it makes me smile.  I love these guys.  They’re a great example of my not-always-baby photos… it’s the name of the business, but teenagers (and almost teenagers) are always “babies” to someone, after all.

Oh, and I had to show you this one in color. Every one of my photos is always delivered to my clients these days in both b&w and color. I tend to lean toward blogging the b&w because it allows the emotion to be the strongest element in the photo… and I always love the simplicity of light and dark.  But the color here adds so much energy that I had to show it this way. Wonderful to see you guys, as always!

We’re talking a lot about bellies around here…

You know what’s fun? Showing up at a family’s home after I’ve done maternity pictures for them, and getting to meet the little person who’d been inside that belly.  Even cooler? When I get to do it again a second time.  I got to visit with 20 month old E this past weekend because his baby sister is arriving soon, and I’d taken pictures of his mama’s belly when he was in there, too.  Super cool.

There are so many here that I love – when he lifts his shirt to show us his belly… (we seem to be discussing bellies a lot around here, wanna see mine?), his kiss with his mama, his hand and his feet and his hugs on her belly… the list goes on.  Enjoy :)

Wonderful to see you guys again!

Swinging, playing basketball… staying busy

Another incredible year for this guy. Nothing comes easy for him, but you really can’t tell when you spend time with him. He’s six now, and doing so well with his walking, swinging, playing basketball… I just can’t explain how impressive he is. He’s also super loving and having a great time with his fun parents.  I adore so many of these, it’s so hard to pick a favorite.  I’m a sucker for a good tickle picture, but quiet moments like the one where he’s sitting with his mom by the water laughing and looking down and mom is doing the same – the dimple there kills me.  I also keep going back to the one where Dad is handing him the basketball – it seems like the beginning of something :)

Wonderful to spend time with you guys as always!

He gets cuter every year…if that’s even possible! I am not biased or anything… :0)

Spring Public Garden Mini-session #7

Catch me if you can! (love the tongue on big brother C) :)

What handsome dudes!

Little brother X:

And big brother C (do you believe the eyelashes on these guys?):

Feeding the ducks:

Wonderful to meet you guys!

Stef - May 5, 2012 - 7:37 am

Awesome pictures!!!!!!! Colin and Xavier are the handsomest little guys!

Spring Public Garden Mini-session #6

First, my fave – love G’s big brother expression:

And then I’ll go back to the first frame of the shoot – doncha love when that happens?

Big almost 6 yr old boy!

And then the beauty, Ms. Birthday Girl – she’s THREE!

These guys have done so many shoots with me that in their twenty minutes we even had time to do parent headshots. Impressive, eh?

A number of years ago this Mama launched the super-cool company Celadon Road  (“dedicated to promoting greener, healthier and more socially responsible living by offering [their] customers the highest quality natural, eco-friendly products for their everyday needs”) and we had to update her headshot while we were in the beautiful public garden.

Wonderful to see you guys!

Two under two, plus a bonus big boy

These guys are card carrying members of the “two under two” club, with a bonus 3 1/2 year old thrown in!  Busy, busy, busy.  And so much fun energy!

20 months old and 6 weeks old. So much love.

There’s something about the lines in this photo that I love.  The artwork on the wall and the bedspread kind of tie it all up in a nice bow for me, too.

Kinda love the mayhem in this one.

Love that dad made this face at/with J:

And so did Mom :)

Dimple :)

Really fun to see you guys as always!

The ladies pick some apples

Met up at an apple orchard with these two beauties – and although color versions of these late-in-the-day shots are sweet, I’m loving their b&w counterparts…

Mama pulled her girl…

And then J got to do some work pulling…

But for some reason this one screams color to me.

Adored spending the afternoon with you guys, thank you!  Great idea.

Pre-Hurricane Irene beach shoot #1

Last Saturday, just hours before Hurricane Irene made her way up the coastline, I met up with this fantastic family at Crane’s Beach in Ipswich.  I tell you, if I could have ordered the weather for a beach photoshoot from a menu, I would have chosen exactly this day.  It was gorgeous there at 9am!

That, and they weren’t too hard on the eyes…

And there was FUN to be had…

Sometimes I just have to include one when mom looks just drop dead amazing – I love this!  Model much?

Handsome devil, and getting so big!

I love this.

And this.  I can see this big on a wall somewhere – so sweet.

This sweet boy got a sister

What a loving big 2 1/2 year old brother!

He just loved playing with her:

I love the sun pattern on the pillow here, and her perfect rolls and hands clasped under her chin :)

Such a handsome dude:

Had to grab a pic of just mama and her munchkins:

Daddy and his big boy got some time to check out the trash truck…

And Mama got some sweet girl time:

Wonderful to see you guys in your new (ok, maybe not so new anymore…) place!

Beautiful pictures of a gorgeous family! You must be very happy with how great everyone looks!

Lauren - July 13, 2011 - 10:02 pm

I don’t know this family but I simple HAVE to say: That dress is gorgeous. Simply beautiful. I love my two boys but that dress is the kind of thing that makes me so grateful to have a little niece to spoil. Truly lovely dress. Oh and kids and pictures too ;) Everything is beautiful.

Devouring Goodnight Moon

I mean, sometimes books are just so good, I know – I totally DEVOUR them too. For sweet 7 month old girl L, Margaret Wise Brown’s Goodnight Moon is one of those books.

Isn’t she a beauty?

Shhh, daddy!

Love the tongue here :)

Great getting to know you guys!
