Dedham MA Family of Twins Photographer – Star Wars, and can I get a HEY-OH?

All hail the amazingly creative cousin who’s a whiz with the knitting and crochet needles! Everybody say HEY-O!

All hail the sister and bro-in-law who are just a few WEEKS away from making it to their twins’ first birthday. Everybody say HEY-O!

And all hail a weekend of costumes – because nothing, nothing beats Halloween weekend when you take pictures of children for a living.

So I’m going to have to dedicate this post to a family of Star Wars nuts who are near and dear to my heart. I’ll share some additional costumed cuties on the blog as well, but I’m gonna focus on one team of three cuties who made me smile a lot today. I mean, we’ve got eleven month old E going as Snow Warrior Leia. And her twin brother J? Yup, I think you’re picking up what I’m putting down. He’s going as X-Wing Fighter Pilot Luke. Obvi. I mean, guys, they’re twins. Get it? And we’re talking a three year old big sister who INSISTED on being Darth Vadar. Because that’s how they roll.

And then, once they’d decided on their costumes, in swept the magical cousin who wields her knitting needle (a.k.a. light saber… <– see what I did there?) with incredible skill, and they were off and running.

All this combined meant we got this:jjehalloween_ellieblog

Which of course led to this:

But wait! That’s not all!

Because it’s Halloween weekend! I have to show you more. Sometimes on this kind of weekend you just run into a fairy princess:

Or a snow queen:

Or a vampire:

Or Sophia the First:

Or Thomas:

See, it’s just the best weekend. The twins agree. New hats #ftw!

Halloween at Music Together

Music class is always awesome, and when Halloween coincided with our weekly Monday music class at Old Colony Music Together, I knew it made sense to bring the camera.

Hilarious.  (Mine’s the kitty with her back to us here.)

They’re free to participate however they like.  Either with instruments:

Or in a more relaxed way… (this cracks me up)

This princess wins the prize for best expression of the day:

My kitty, tongue (literally) in cheek:

Great fun, every week, but especially so when they’re costumed ;)

My girls for Halloween

In a few hours I’ll be back to your regularly scheduled programming – cute clients all the time – but this morning I took a few minutes with my own little halloween goblins outside (in the SNOW).  In past years I’ve invited the whole neighborhood over, but with the weather the way it was this weekend, it was too hard to organize the timing of that, so I just forced my own children to don their costumes one day early and get wet and cold for a few minutes.  C’mon guys, it’s for ART!!  For posterity!  You’ll thank me later… right? Right??

Eventually they warmed up a bit and showed off the Wonder Woman-i-tude:

And the Kitty style: (But don’t ask how many bribes I had to go through to get her into this cat costume.  I kid you not – 30 minutes of begging, lollipops, everything.  She is sooooo two.)

Brrrrr is it time to go inside yet??

Aww LOVE these!!! They are totally rocking them! Love the Wonder woman costume. I used to have wonder woman underoos…oh man I loved them so :-) Have fun tomorrow.

Lantern Walk 2011

I had such grand visions of tonight’s elementary school candlelit “Lantern Walk” around our local pond, from a photographer’s perspective.  Turns out it was pitch black and I didn’t have any luck taking pictures on the walk around the pond.

Annie, on the other hand, got to walk home afterwards hand-in-hand with my sister (the person she thinks hung the moon).  So it was a success, after all.

Lovely photo!

Backyard Halloween time

So again this year I invited our neighbors over for a photoshoot in our backyard, to get excited for Halloween. I hate how the pictures we take on Halloween night need to use flash, so I like to get some great shots before the big night.

We were joined by…

A lovely mouse:

One of the monsters from Monsters Inc. I can’t remember the name of the monster! Cute nonetheless :)

A veterinarian:

A buzzy bee:

Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz:

A big sister bear:

And a little brother bear:

Buzz Lightyear and his twin brother Wall-E:

The cutest cow in the land:

Penguin sisters:

Hannah Montana, with her trusty wig and mic:

A pirate:

The vet checking out the cow:

Wow, the Statue of Liberty brought her homemade Chrysler Building!

A fire-breathing dragon:

Ariel:

And another wow – homemade Palace Guards!

So much fun to see all you guys. I love this time of year!

Halloween costumes in my backyard today

We had about twenty cuties from my street in Milton (yes, we love our neighborhood – it’s kidfest) come over for costume photos today.

We had so many fantastic costumes – we had some construction workers:

My girlie as a turtle:

And of course two Disney princesses stopped by:

Annie and her friend (from the top picture) did a switcheroo – she wanted to try the contruction worker look… perhaps if this had been her real costume we would have gone with pants, too… oh well.

And a gorgeous astronaut:

No party is complete without a Buzz Lightyear:

And a homemade giant squid costume – so cool!

A tiny little chickie:

And Snow White, playing Peek-a-boo:

A charm school witch:

A grinning little puppy dog:

And the firefighter look was popular with both boys:

And girls alike:

We had a Nemo and a Count Dracula:

Isn’t this Nemo costume cool from the back? Another homemade one.

And the Count, doing his best pose:

Supergirl thought I was a little silly:

Had to get a devil/angel shot, of course:

A Backyardigan, of course – Tyrone:

And last but not least, peace out! Forgive me if I didn’t post one of your little cutie – all the pics will be ready ASAP.
