It’s puppy time!

It’s only once in a blue moon that one of my very best friends in the world has a baby, and no matter what, I have to be there to document that baby’s first days.  I just have to.  So when one of my oldest and dearest college friends adopted this two month old Wheaten Terrier yesterday, I had to be there within moments of her arrival home.  Because puppies are babies too!  And now little Piper is totally jumping the line – ahead of two patient families waiting for their pictures from me.  I hope you guys understand – this one just had to be blogged quickly… isn’t she adorable?

We love you Piper, oh yes we do, we love you Piper, and we’ll be true… when you’re not with us, we’re blue… Oh Piper, we love you. xoxo

These are AWESOME! Wish there were 100 more!

Great pics of an adorable puppy. Of course, I’m a little or a lot prejudiced, I’m her aunt!

Another lick for a big beautiful girl

Before I show you this sweet girl getting licked by her pup (aka big brother), I have to show you my favorite one from this six month old photoshoot:

And now I won’t make you wait for the licking one.

Getting bigger every time, on her chaise…

Mama’s two babies:

Love this tender one, and mama’s eyelashes echoing E’s pretty eyelashes here… love it…

Loved seeing you guys as always!

Amy St. Angelo - March 8, 2012 - 1:22 pm

I love the big lick from her big brother Harry! These pics are amazing! Jessica – you sure know how to capture those special moments! Beautiful!

Kristen Krikorian - March 8, 2012 - 4:59 pm

LOVE the pics! She is getting so big and looks so innocent and precious! Her smile is a knock out! And Harry is so lovey dovey! Great pics!

3 weeks of dog kisses

Now it’s possible Harry the fabulous black lab was overly affectionate during my visit last Friday, but it’s also possible he showers his new sister E with this many kisses all day every day.  He is enamored, and I think it’s possible he’s spent the last month with E giving her as much love as he possibly can.  Happy 4 week birthday today, E, sorry these pictures took me all week to get to you!

I mean, come on now – aren’t the licks just perfect?  E really didn’t seem to mind too much, except maybe in this next one, as her eyes tell Daddy she’s maybe not having as much fun with the licks as she was before :)  I do love dog/baby kissing pictures.  Whenever I get a good one, I tag the post, so if you like them too, there are more here (keep scrolling down the page after you click to see the other ones).

So back to the beginning.  When I first arrived, baby E was snoozing on mama, but we had to grab a quick shot of her on this gorgeous antique chaise (is this a chaise?) with dragonflies on it.  She’s so tiny snoozing here.

But I should let you get a good look at her.  Isn’t she just perfect?

Getting some sustenance.

Relaxing on dad in her favorite hat from the delivery room.

Hanging out with mama:

Tiny toes!

With her uber-helpful awesome grandmother.

Three generations of ladies:

It was such a pleasure to meet you guys!  Thanks for having me out to meet your sweet girlie.

Amy St. Angelo - January 11, 2012 - 10:59 am

The photos are truly amazing and priceless; especially in the years to come! I can’t help but love the ones of Harry & Ellie together!!!

Our 8th shoot!

I started taking pictures of these two back in 2005, when L was three years old and W was one.  And now here we are, on shoot #8 – with a gorgeous 9 year old girl and a handsome 7 year old boy.  Time FLIES.

Dreamy, perfect Posey-McPoserton shot. Well done, everybody, including Gandalf ;)

The lovely Miss, with her festive pumpkin:

Toothless wonder – doesn’t this one look like an ad for a dentist? I’d totally go to this dentist if he promised I’d get to have toothless boys as awesome as W.

Gandalf love.

Got to include some fun grandparents this time :)

Da boyz.

Da ladeez.

Plumb tuckered out.  Modeling is exhausting!

Loved seeing you guys, as always.

A TON of beautiful hair

When this little beauty’s mama emailed me about her photoshoot, she warned me that her daughter (and I’m quoting here) “has a ton, and I mean a ton, of hair ;)”

I loved it.  She’s gorgeous, and the hair is fabulous.

We started off with barrettes to tame it – that looked great too:

But at a certain point we just had to go for it :)

Those toes need a lick…

And I was JUST talking about Sophie the giraffe with someone recently – a universal fave:

Kind of her to lift her foot to leave a spot for the logo, don’t you think?

And I just love this mama girlie pic:

Wonderful to meet you guys, thanks for having me out!

Happy 1st bday, big boy!

Look at this big handsome boy! Can’t believe this year went by so fast. I saw him a few times this year – when he was just 10 days old and then again when he was a big boy of 3 months old, and then just now, for his one year pictures.   It was his ACTUAL birthday, too – last week.  I always feel so honored to spend birthdays with little ones, and this guy was so much fun.

Sorry these pictures took me so long to send to you guys!

His block was stuck under the chair.  Um, some help here?

Loved seeing you again, big man :)

Go big or go home

I just looked through this handful of my favorite shots from this session, and they reminded me of that expression “go big, or go home”.  These adorable girls had big expressions for the whole session.  Look first at these BIG smiles:

And everyone with big smiles here, too – except the pugs, who don’t, I guess, do “big”.

Now we did have one moment of the other kind of big… big wails:

But mere moments later (literally, I looked at the timestamp – this shot was 14 seconds after the above shot) – S was back to being thrilled by her dad’s playing…

And do you believe this grin?

The tongue’s the best part.  Well, that and the dimple.  Oh, and the thigh roll.  Oh, ok, and the pug in the bottom corner.  I guess I like this shot a little bit.

Sister time. :)

2 pounds of fluff and attitude

Today I got to meet the teeniest, tiniest little cutie patootie Maltipoo puppy.  She’s only twelve weeks old and at her last appointment she weighed in at a whopping one and a half pounds.  She’s been eating and growing like crazy, though, so her mama is sure she’s at least two pounds by now.  She’s the kind of little pup who makes you immediately drop to the ground the moment you see her and not get off the ground until you have to leave.

Here’s my favorite moment from the shoot, as she heads to attack that enormous tennis ball that just might attack back.  Never know.

Introducing the lovely Digby.  Yes, that is a standard-size tennis ball at 1/3 of her standing height.

Never thought I’d post a photo of my own foot on my blog.  Luckily I wore my cute shoes today. I’m a size 8.5, if that helps you establish a frame of reference for this little pipsqueak.

Next to her playpen.

Hiding in a favorite spot.  Yes, that’s Dig’s little nose peeking out.

Can we go outside and play?

Enjoying the sun today (look at that cutie little tail!).  And the face full of attitude.

Getting a scratch from mama.

Her profile makes her look like a big five pound girl, doesn’t she?

Quick rest, sweet wise eyes.

And last but not least, lounging by the pool.

THANK YOU so much for these pics. It’s absolutely amazing what you were able to capture, especially since Digby was running around the entire time. I can’t wait to frame her first official photos!

Awwwwww! Presh!

Lens slobber never hurt anyone

I’ve been called many, many times over the past eight years to do dog photos, and I’ve always just referred my clients to other wonderful photographers who specialize in animal photography.  But when all of a sudden this month my sister and her fiance adopted a gorgeous 4 month old shelter pup (a lab/husky mix), all my resolve went out the window.  Because dogs are babies too!  Now that I’m a real live aunt of a real live dog, everything has changed.  He’s perfect.  He’s delicious. He’s cuddly.  He’s beautiful.  He’s my nephew.

And his name, ladies and gentlemen, is Jake.

And in my less than 12 hour visit to DC this weekend to meet him, I learned so much.  He taught me how awesome the laser pointer is.  His mom and dad live in an english basement apartment, and they don’t have a ton of runaround room for a 4 month old cutie pie, so the laser pointer is maybe the best invention for Jake ever.  Here he is as he pounces on that silly little red dot (and a side note as a proud aunt – do you see the bright white light on his left paw? he totally would have caught the red dot if it were a real thing!):

A snuggle with his loving mama:

Up on his hind legs (this was before we went to doggie kindergarden later that day… not sure if this is allowed anymore…):

I think he has his daddy’s nose:

And a shot with his favorite toy in the background – the oft-chewed Froggy.  And don’t you love these incredible wrinkles on Jake’s head? What’s more perfect? They remind me of how much I love baby wrinkles.

Playing a little tug-o-war:

I like this one because you can see his sweet little husky tail all curled around:

And had to play with some macro stuff… don’t you love how puppy-ish these paw pads are? Still so soft.

The whole fam.  How awesome is the head tilt on Jake? And Lindsay’s hand over Jake’s little paw is my second favorite part…

Gorgeous, perfect, wonderful nephew, I loved meeting you.  Can’t wait to see you again soon.  So excited to be a doggie aunt.

Nancy - March 19, 2010 - 1:00 am

SO cute! Will he be at the wedding? :)

BBP, aka Jess - March 19, 2010 - 1:03 am

I hope so, Nancy – but I’m gonna leave that to Linds and Brent to answer… I haven’t heard the final word. I think his house training is job #1 these days, and the success on that front is going to determine wedding attendance likelihood ;)

Mary C. Davis - March 19, 2010 - 10:25 am

These pictures are stunning! I haven’t met Jake, but I feel like I know him now. Beautifully done!

Sara - March 19, 2010 - 10:29 am

These shots are incredible! I just spent an hour with Jake this week and I can’t get over how much these shots capture his personality. Love them!

Cilla - March 20, 2010 - 9:28 am

OMG these brought tears to my eyes. Jake is wonderful, he totally has a photo-future, and I’m thrilled for him and his happy parents! Happy life to all!

Happy first birthday, smiling dude

I had to work hard to make sure that every picture of this little guy wasn’t smiling, because he’s just such a happy guy.  I think this is my favorite shot, though:

Look at these killer eyelashes, too:

And using his walker, a total pro:

Relaxing with the whole gang:

High-five for mom:

Showing off the crawling skills.  I feel like his right hand looks like he’s drumming his fingers here, waiting for something important…

This big boy just turned ONE, so we had to take a picture in front of the mural dad painted:

Actually, this next picture is competing to be my favorite one… I’m going back and forth.

This one cracks me up – belly!

So much fun to spend time with you guys.

These are fantastic! What a little ham!

Two big boys and their fantastic hair

I haven’t seen big boy J since he was his little brother D’s age – and now he’s a big brother, having a fantastic time with his little brother. They were both just balls of energy throughout the photoshoot last weekend – and this is my #1 favorite shot of the two of them. It’s terrible of me, but it just cracks me up how J is hollering as he puts his full body weight on D’s little hand, and D’s expression is just so perfect. Ouch!

My second favorite shot – this just tells the best story:

Gorgeous boy, and for some reason I really adore the lock of mom’s hair that is in the corner of this frame – it shows a really neat sense of movement or something.

D getting a tickle from his mama:

And then I have a favorite serious shot of both of them…

And this one too – love the lips so much:

The boys had this fantastic antique fire truck in the living room for the pictures – really cool:

Group cuddle, with pup included.

So great to see you guys again! Can’t wait to show you the rest of the pictures.

chrisyeajin - January 21, 2010 - 6:43 pm

I love these pics~ your boys are so handsome(and they pose like pros)! and i love the family portrait too~

Monte and his siblings

I am so into this shot of this family’s sweet pup Monte. The kiddos in the background become secondary to his handsomeness :) Don’t you imagine it’s the way every dog imagines themselves in their owner’s eyes?

Oh OK, we’ll look at some pictures of the kids too. Aren’t they gorgeous?

They have a killer roof deck, and this shot with the Pru in the background is fun for so many reasons. Smallest sister D is so not the “jump off the bench” idea. Isn’t her expression perfect?

Another fantastic moment with all three:

Hugs and kisses for mama:

Silly faces behind dad:

Big sister L, who is all of a sudden super tall, elegant, and a lovely big girl.

Middle brother E, and his perfect grin:

And little sister D is all of a sudden a little girl instead of a baby – beautiful!

Wonderful to see you guys as always.

Oh, and last but never least, the star of the show…
