It’s hard to be a big sister (I know, I am one!) – but this sweet big girl’s parents totally got it. They knew as soon as Miss K had some craisins for a snack she’d be way more into spending time with her new baby sister.
Yay for craisins! Sugar boost #ftw ;)
And now I can take a minute to introduce the gorgeous girl, Ms. A, who turned one month old at our photoshoot this week. She was a leeeetle tired during photos, but that didn’t stop us from having fun. Isn’t she delicious?
This next one might be my favorite big sister/little sister moment – I just ADORE it. It says so much about this moment in time!
Big sister K did really love on her new sister during the photoshoot.
Eek, I love this one, too – Miss A stretching while K tickles her toes:
A did give us some sweet faces when she put on her tutu. Because what’s more fun than a tutu?
See? So fun.
And we got to go outside for a popsicle!
So fun to meet you guys! Thanks for having me!
I was so honored to come meet this sweet girl last week, a mere 13 days after she entered the world. And you wouldn’t believe how by-the-book her session was! As a newborn baby photographer, I sometimes spend time waiting for babies to wake up (obviously), or I relax when I arrive and a new tiny person gets a meal… it doesn’t bother me at all, it’s par for the course.
But this girl? She had her eyes wide open when I walked in the door, she’d just finished a nice big meal, and she was ready for action.
Do you believe this mama and her girl photo? Just adore it.
She got to hang and hold hands with dad…
Look at those eyes!
She even gave us some half smiles:
And the smooshy back skin? Just my absolute favorite.
Look how tiny in Daddy’s arms!
She even gave us a little fuss and grabbed hold of her curtains in frustration. Good little grasp she has there!
And then she convinced us she was ready for a snooze.
But let me just take one minute to show you the tiniest little ear… fuzz at the tippity top of it… kills me…
It was wonderful meeting you guys, thanks so much for having me!
My Turner’s Pond minishoots are becoming super popular for families who live around Milton, MA – it’s such a beautiful location, and the parking is easy… no traffic… nothing wrong with the ones I do in the Public Garden, don’t get me wrong, but these ones are so easy for everybody! And the best part for me is, running around being a family photographer at this time of year is such a joy. There’s so much excitement to document when the weather is as beautiful as it’s been.
(More info about these minis is up on my website on the Turner’s Pond Minishoots page.)
I’m going to tease you guys and just share this one photo from the session – we got SO many great ones, but this one will give you a taste of the sweetness that is this family.
I’m honored to have been taking pictures of this cute face since he was just mere days old. This time we met at Turner’s Pond for pictures on Sunday (when the Walk for Hunger downtown kept us from doing our Public Garden Minishoots – ugh!).
But that didn’t matter to this guy. I mean, look at that GRIN.
And even if his mamas don’t live in the same house anymore, isn’t it so supremely cool that they’d book back-to-back minishoots at Turner’s Pond with me so that we could do lots of pictures of this cute face with each of his moms?
Because there’s no shortage of love and hugs and cuddles and squeezes happening around here. No shortage at all.
And you know what else is cool? Getting a pic of everybody together. Because why not? And also, because MOTHER’S DAY is in four more days! #mominthepicture
Yay for mamas who love their babies above all else.
And if the geese attack, this guy’s gonna just get rid of them with his friendly smile.
Hi there, Goose!
I really do get goosebumps when I arrive in Beacon Hill as a newborn photographer. I love walking those streets. Last week it was early morning when I was arriving for our pictures with this new little guy. The sun was warming my back, and I almost skipped as I came up the hill to their house. Nothing like following my GPS, not quite sure where I’ll park, but excited to start a new journey with an entirely new family.
And when I get to be the newborn photographer for an old friend who’s just had his first baby?
Well that’s when it just couldn’t be more perfect.
But wait, there’s more. Because this boy was just too much. Look at that tummy! Those toes! That soft squishy back!
And I didn’t even explain to you about his amazingly creative mama. She takes beautiful photos of her sweet boy all the time. But she’s never IN the photos. You know the problem? Where you’re not sure your child will even remember you were there for those early days? We decided to remedy that, and took special care to really carefully document mama and her boy. (The hair pulling one cracks me up.)
And then it was time to put on some clothes and maybe have a little snack. Because a little nursing break can sometimes fix everything.
And when better to show everybody my new Baby’s First Year coffeetable albums and Baby’s First Year package options. So much to consider!
And then a little pat on the back… Aaaaand burp!
p.s. I adored getting to meet you, sweet boy. Hope you love love love your photos!
This is exciting, you guys. I’m swapping out my vendor for my photobooks and I think you’re going to really dig these new books. Here’s the photobooks page on the (new! improved!) BBP website with all the information/pricing.
Of course I can always make you one of the old style of books to match the books you’ve been making with me for years, but new stuff is fun so I want you to check these out.
Look how elegant. Linen covered. Imprinted with your title.
Wait, what’s the Annual Plan? (Two shoots within a nine month period, one at home and one as a minishoot on location somewhere. My Annual Plan #2 and #4 come with one of these books included.)
The layouts for the new books are awesome, and they lay flat so I can make photos spread across two pages (yes, this is COOOOOOOOL).
More info about the Annual Plan is here, and all the coffeetable book details are here.
I’ve been taking photos of this fantastic boy since he was tiny – I think maybe these pictures we took when he was sixteen months old were the first time?
He and his pup Dixie are peas in a pod, absolutely.
These photos are from our session last fall and R’s mama has been perhaps the most patient person in the world waiting for the blog post. The crazy holiday season often means I am focused on getting everyone’s galleries posted and not taking the time to blog as much. But I’m trying to get better about blogging more regularly in 2017 – so I’ll post more soon, I promise!
Look at the fun these guys have together. They give me such joy every time.
And really, what’s better than an October day when the sun is shining and you can take the yoga ball outside and have your mom clock you on the head with it? ;) hehe just kidding. Good times were had by all. No tears were shed. Honest.
As always, I love seeing you guys. Thanks for having me back!
There are two weeks left until 2017, guys! There was so much #loveandjoyin2016 – let’s relive it a little. I’m gonna take the next two weeks to peek back through some of my favorite BBP moments of #loveandjoy from 2016, because everybody could use a little more of that in their lives. You should do it too. Look on your phone, find photos that remind you of the love and joy in your life from this year and post them with the #loveandjoyin2016 hashtag. Let’s overwhelm Instagram with love and joy. #loveandjoyproject #makeseverybodysmile
Follow me on Instagram @bostonbabyphotos and let’s spread love and joy together!
All hail the amazingly creative cousin who’s a whiz with the knitting and crochet needles! Everybody say HEY-O!
All hail the sister and bro-in-law who are just a few WEEKS away from making it to their twins’ first birthday. Everybody say HEY-O!
And all hail a weekend of costumes – because nothing, nothing beats Halloween weekend when you take pictures of children for a living.
So I’m going to have to dedicate this post to a family of Star Wars nuts who are near and dear to my heart. I’ll share some additional costumed cuties on the blog as well, but I’m gonna focus on one team of three cuties who made me smile a lot today. I mean, we’ve got eleven month old E going as Snow Warrior Leia. And her twin brother J? Yup, I think you’re picking up what I’m putting down. He’s going as X-Wing Fighter Pilot Luke. Obvi. I mean, guys, they’re twins. Get it? And we’re talking a three year old big sister who INSISTED on being Darth Vadar. Because that’s how they roll.
And then, once they’d decided on their costumes, in swept the magical cousin who wields her knitting needle (a.k.a. light saber… <– see what I did there?) with incredible skill, and they were off and running.
All this combined meant we got this:
Which of course led to this:
But wait! That’s not all!
Because it’s Halloween weekend! I have to show you more. Sometimes on this kind of weekend you just run into a fairy princess:
Or a snow queen:
Or a vampire:
Or Sophia the First:
See, it’s just the best weekend. The twins agree. New hats #ftw!
Welcome to the world, little B! I got to meet this sweet girl last weekend on the day she turned 4 weeks old. She’s perfect.
First I have to show you this shot – I love when this happens spontaneously! Mama was looking lovingly on in the background and look what we got. Love this.
What a beauty.
I also loved getting to know her big (canine) siblings — they’re settling into this new life as protectors-of-the-babe really well! It’s tough when a new little human arrives. But they’re being super sweet with her.
A smile for Dad!
Trying on a cute hat…
It was wonderful to meet you guys!
I am going to tease you with these first few photos because you’re not really going to believe how adorable this little girl is when I show you her face. So I’m starting with her 13 month old arms. Because wrist rolls? Knuckle dimples? People, we got it all here.
GA! Told you!!
I just adore this exchange of expressions with Mama:
And now, because you haven’t gotten enough adorableness – it’s tub time.
And some snuggles with Grandma, of course.
Just adored every minute of this shoot, guys. Thanks so much for having me.
This sweet pumpkin has so much love surrounding her! She was nine days old when we took these photos, and her big 4 1/2 year old sister and her big 2 1/2 year old brother just showered her with attention for the whole photoshoot.
Also, I so often blog my newborn in-home sessions in black and white, I wanted to change it up for you here – every session I shoot is always provided to my clients in both black and white and color, but I sometimes forget to blog the color shots so you can see the cuties’ pink cheeks too.
I met the biggest sister in this family when she was just one, back in early 2005, when I’d only been a professional photographer for two years. And now she’s almost a TEENAGER too…
I’ve loved seeing these guys throughout the years as they’ve grown.
When you have a two year old at home and you bring home a newborn, sometimes you just have to throw the two year old up in the air. It’s necessary, people. #andalsosuperfun
The sweetness that big sister A feels toward her new sister T is just palpable – I adored it…
She is pretty perfect:
The intensity of the sisterly love was pretty hilarious, actually ;)
Always wanting to squish and squeeze her… (But actually, T didn’t seem to mind a bit.)
Wonderful to see you guys again – so excited for another Baby’s First Year package with you!
I got to meet three new babies this past weekend – I love it when that happens. Lots of weekends I’m going back and seeing older kiddos, but this weekend ended up being baby-tastic. Just my style.
This little beauty and her amazing gorgeous curls made me smile so much on Saturday. Look at her perfect cheeks! Those eyelashes!
She had such wonderfully varied expressions, I just adored it. Thanks so much for having me, guys.
