Milton MA Family Photographer – eight photoshoots in eleven years

This is #24 in my series of Family Retrospective Videos – for more information about this project or to sign up to be added to the list of families who wants one, just let me know. I’ve been trying to make one of these a month since I started this project back in 2014. Now my queue of families who have requested one of these stretches into the middle of 2017, but if I’ve been taking photos of your family for a while, just send me a message and request one – it’ll be a nice surprise when it appears in your email someday.

You can watch more retrospectives here:

We started back in 2005 when tiny baby Zoe was only two years old. Our next shoot was in 2008, and this time Zoe was joined by a teenie baby Aimee. Since then we’ve had six more photoshoots – lots of them in the Boston Public Garden as minishoots. So many years of fun :)

So without further ado, here’s a 6 minute video of Zoe and Aimee’s family with photos from eight photoshoots spread over eleven years:

(Hint: Start playing the video, and then click on the little gear thing that takes you to “Settings” in the bottom right corner of the video. Choose 720p to make the slideshow play in high-definition. You can also choose “Full Screen” down there in that corner of the video too.)

A tiny sister joins them

I got to document this tiny girl last week when she was just eight days old. She’s a perfect four pound peanut, and her big sister is so incredibly loving and kind toward her new baby sister.

The girls:

And her big canine brother is extraordinarily gentle with her too – he even let her take a nap right on him.

Snoozy smile:

And not to be outdone – a fabulously fun and amazing big sister:

I adored meeting you guys!

Brothers getting to know each other

I loved getting to see big boy J again, and to meet his new baby brother. I’m also excited because J did the baby’s first year package when he was a wee one, and now I get to come back and see his new brother T a few more times this year too!

Wonderful to see your smiling faces, guys :)7690c

Cousins in the leaves

This was one of my last minishoots last fall – on that weekend before Thanksgiving when the leaves were just bursting with color on the ground. And who shows up for one of my local-to-Milton “afterschool minis” (which we actually ended up doing on a Saturday afternoon, but you get the gist), but this crew: five cousins totally bursting with energy.

Kathleen Fahey - January 13, 2015 - 9:30 pm

Hello I am an Aunt of two of the cousins here. The very little boy Ciaran and the red headed girl Annie…..I am completely impressed with your photography and you truly captured the essence of this children. I would recommend you and thanks for taking such beautiful pictures of beautiful children…….All of them not just my niece and nephew but their gorgeous cousins as well……..These are truly special pictures.

Four of ’em, daring to be true

Around the holidays last year one of my sister’s best high school friends called me and said that she wanted to give a group photoshoot to three of her friends from high school who’d all had babies in the last few years. I got excited right then – couldn’t wait to make this one happen; and this past Sunday it did.

Nothing beats four little mini-Miltonites playing in the water.

This one reminds me of their mamas in the dining hall not too long ago.

So in age order, we had… Ms. J

Mr. G:

Ms. J:

And Mr. M:

Rock band.

So much fun! Love love love.

The third two year old brother

This is the third time I’ve visited these guys, and we always do it when one of the brothers turns two. What a fun tradition! I love punctuating childhoods like this. What fabulous crew.

Wonderful to see you guys! Hope we can keep up the every-two-years tradition! Easier to have me come back for everybody’s eight year old pictures than to keep adding two year olds to the family ;)

Fall Public Garden Minishoot #19

This fall I had two Public Garden Minishoot days – one at the end of September, and one at the end of October. During those two shoot days I met about twenty families for quickie 20 minute photoshoots, and lucked out with incredible weather days both days. To streamline my process this fall, I decided to only blog people who specifically asked me to – so that’s why I’m skipping right to minishoot #19 here :)

More info about Minishoot days (and getting on the “contact me first” list for the spring minishoots) is here.

I loved seeing these three handsome boys again this fall – and had to show you these in color, because the Public Garden’s color is always gorgeous…

Unbelievable pictures! I love the family shot.

diane long - November 26, 2013 - 8:48 pm

Though I enjoyed the photo posted, I think the picture in the leaves with the middle child eating the leaves is so honest and free in the fall season. Each photo was great and I love FAMILY photos, but sometimes it’s just nice to see innocence

kevin long - November 26, 2013 - 8:58 pm

I’m the Godfather to the youngest, so I think that the single pictures of each boy, represents such a unique photo of the ‘man’ within. With that said, seeing the family photo, makes me realize that the spontaneity of happiness is quite evident in the group picture. Innocence is captured; love is captured. Great shoot!

Deb - December 4, 2013 - 6:05 pm

Jess – you did it again. 3rd year running and you continue to capture the personalities of the little guys. Thank you for your patience and silliness. You do an amazing job.

A sister who loves to giggle

After a bit of winter cold rescheduling, we finally got these guys documented! 6 year old H and 3 year old W welcomed their new baby sister E in mid-September, and we got to get pictures when she was just about two months old and grinning and giggling up a storm. I’ll let the pictures do the talking, but suffice it to say I adored playing with these guys. And yikes, the picture by the window is killing me with its quiet sweetness.

Spring Public Garden Minishoot #8

It’s so fun for me to know people first as friends and then get a chance to take their pictures – I love that. I’m lucky enough to have met many many people as clients first and then over years and years of watching their babies grow they become friends. But this one is the opposite… friends first, and now yay, getting a chance to photograph them!  I’m feeling gushy today, sorry.  Maybe it’s editing pictures of one of my daughter’s best friends, and one of my favorite neighbors…  When I get a chance to take pictures of kids I’ve hung around with, played with… it’s just such an amazing feeling. I feel like I know the smiles so well, I just adore being able to capture them.

Thanks guys, I’m so glad you did a mini!

Chilly day, but warm inside

We spent this whole photoshoot indoors because it was warm and cozy in there – and what’s better than rolling around on the bed, on the couch, just playing.

I have one cuddly picture in here that tells a little story from the editing side of things – and it’s the one of mama on the bed with her two kids squashing up in close with her.  This one is not the crispest photo, and the old Jess – the Jess before she had her own kids, the more technically precise Jess – wouldn’t have approved of it. But the love is just bursting out of this picture – two babies crawling up tight to their mama – I had to keep it.  Because who cares about a little motion blur when the moment just makes your heart melt?

A little holiday art project

These two are just brilliant – do you believe they know how to spell MERRY XMAS? I mean, really? The complexity, understanding that “X” – Mas is a shortened version of Christmas? Makes sense, I mean they only had that small chalkboard to work with… you can see why they’d write it that way… but I just have to admit it’s impressive ;)

Look at this big one year old girl!! Cake smash :)

Dianna - February 15, 2013 - 5:46 pm

Every one of these photos makes me smile!! Awesome photography of the most adorable kids ever!

Four make me smile

My mom is one of four, and my three aunts are three of my favorite people in the world. I can’t help but be reminded of my grandparents’ strict but loving house whenever I get a crew of four for photos.  So I guess it’s safe to say I have a particular affinity for families with four kids. I truly admire them – I’m so impressed, and these guys were no exception.

I am sooo in love with the one of baby B stepping out of the line of four and doing his 18 month old thing. That and as I was leaving, as he sat on the front steps all by himself to wave me goodbye :)

Another of the boys turns two

So it’s a family tradition for these guys – we did this back when big 5 year old brother C was two, and now it’s two year old middle brother O’s turn – we spent most of our time getting fun pictures of him this time.

I think my favorite one came at the very end, as he was hiding from me behind a pillar in front of the house.

Peek-a-boo :)

See you in a year and a half for Mr. D’s moment in the sun!

Kristen - September 12, 2012 - 4:13 pm
