Look who arrived on his due date! This incredibly perfect little person joined Amy and Jason just about two weeks ago, and the joy in their house is palpable. So much love.
And apologies in advance – this is wayyyy too many photos for a blog post but I just had such a hard time choosing.
Look at those eyes!
His expressions cracked me up :)
Teenie boy :)
His big feline brother seemed a bit interested…
Look at these twinkling eyes! I loved meeting this guy for the first time at my late October Public Garden Minishoot – he and his mama had such fun playing together in the trees and the leaves there. I love it when we’re able to document a soon-t0-be older sibling – it’s a time of life when there’s so much change about to happen… I love being able to spend some time focusing on #1 for a bit. (But maybe that’s just me, speaking as a first child – hehe…)
These guys got a gift certificate for a photoshoot from their baby’s fabulous godparents, and I was so excited to come document this little 8 month old guy and his kitty at home last weekend. What a perfect little dude.
Nothing beats a little applesauce.
And your favorite and mine… Sophie made an appearance!
Wonderful to meet you guys!
I was so thrilled to go back and see this wonderful cutie pie last week. You’d never believe this guy had open heart surgery just nine weeks before this photoshoot. I mean, he’s amazing! He’s a complete hero, and also an absolutely gorgeous, bouncing, happy-as-can-be six month old guy. Here he is, in all his fun-loving, six month old glory!
Wow, that year went quickly! This sweet boy did my Baby’s First Year package, so I’m lucky enough to have seen him a bunch of times this year. Now I still can’t believe those dimples, and how much fun he has being a big one year old boy. The ones with his mama might be my favorites, though :)
I love when I get to meet a new family at this time of year! Probably 85-90% of my shoots are with returning families (which is so wonderful and fun because I get to see children grow) but I also love that I get to add new families into the mix all the time. This time of year seems busier with returning families (maybe just because of the quantity of shoots? not sure why it feels that way…) but at any rate, it’s fun to get to know somebody new.
This is little 3 month old R – a sweet, smiley boy who spent some time being handsome for me last Sunday with his mama. The one of him looking up at his mama from the changing table is one of my new favorite shots, and the one where he’s hiding his face with his hand, but peeking through? Just love it. Also loving the mirror one, where he’s cracking himself up :)
You guys know I’m not really a “hat” baby photographer. But when there’s one just LYING around… and when a 9 month old sweetie feels like she’s ready for her closeup in it… who am I to say no?
Incredible cuteness. I’m going to let the photos speak for themselves :)
Except this one, where I have to point out that Harry’s tongue is completely under E’s chin – full extension. Hard to tell here on the blog, but it’s perfect.
Oh, and I loved shooting in Miss E’s new house – the top floor was like a big empty studio for us, so sunny… and I can imagine her peering out these windows for years to come looking at her neighbor kids playing, saying, “Can I go outside?”
And last but not least, chewing on those toes.
Now this guy wants to introduce himself with a BANG! Isn’t he perfect? 8 weeks old and already so full of fun personality and expressions.
At a certain point, though, everybody gets frustrated with modeling…
Probably because he got a leeetle tired (I am so in love with this yawn picture, though):
And now I’m curious. I have two photos that I can’t choose between – they’re similar moments, but I think they tell very different stories. It’s C in Daddy’s arms, and I love the first one for the quiet stillness… so gentle, so sweet… the delicate eyelashes…
But then I’m drawn to this one – just moments later – he got a quick little second wind. It’s so full of energy and joy and fun… not to mention the tiny hand on daddy’s bigger one here…
And then he was out:
So wonderful to meet you guys!
So, last but not least, I give you my 21st Spring Public Garden mini-session from 2012. Two days, 21 families – I can’t believe we didn’t have to reschedule for weather for either of the dates! Everyone was fantastic, I had such fun with them this year. For more information about adding your name to the list for the fall minis, or to just learn about them, visit the minishoots page on my website.
And I’m never sure if people know that I always provide all my clients with every final image in both black & white and color. I’m a fan of black & white, which is why I almost exclusively market it on the blog and website, but I will admit I love the colors the Public Garden offers… so it seemed fitting to finish up my last minishoot of the spring with this magical moment. Isn’t he a dream? And can you see why it has to be in color? Rare, for me, but perfect.
Sweet boy with his lovely mama:
Three, and already flying airplanes:
There’s something so beautiful about this expression, too.
Birch reflects light nicely for us:
Wonderful! Thanks for meeting me, guys :)
We did little D’s pictures on Wednesday morning, when he was just six days old. His two big brothers were off at school, so we got to spend some quiet time getting just D and Mama pictures. Wonderfully sweet.
I’ll tease you a bit, before I introduce you…
And here we have Mr. D:
He even had a smile or two for us…
As well as some pretty fantastic scowls:
I love how different he is in each picture…
More smiles for his mama:
Aaaand then the yawns came. Try not to yawn yourself, looking at this. :)
Wonderful to meet you, little D!
Met up at an apple orchard with these two beauties – and although color versions of these late-in-the-day shots are sweet, I’m loving their b&w counterparts…
Mama pulled her girl…
And then J got to do some work pulling…
But for some reason this one screams color to me.
Adored spending the afternoon with you guys, thank you! Great idea.
Now it’s possible Harry the fabulous black lab was overly affectionate during my visit last Friday, but it’s also possible he showers his new sister E with this many kisses all day every day. He is enamored, and I think it’s possible he’s spent the last month with E giving her as much love as he possibly can. Happy 4 week birthday today, E, sorry these pictures took me all week to get to you!
I mean, come on now – aren’t the licks just perfect? E really didn’t seem to mind too much, except maybe in this next one, as her eyes tell Daddy she’s maybe not having as much fun with the licks as she was before :) I do love dog/baby kissing pictures. Whenever I get a good one, I tag the post, so if you like them too, there are more here (keep scrolling down the page after you click to see the other ones).
So back to the beginning. When I first arrived, baby E was snoozing on mama, but we had to grab a quick shot of her on this gorgeous antique chaise (is this a chaise?) with dragonflies on it. She’s so tiny snoozing here.
But I should let you get a good look at her. Isn’t she just perfect?
Getting some sustenance.
Relaxing on dad in her favorite hat from the delivery room.
Hanging out with mama:
With her uber-helpful awesome grandmother.
Three generations of ladies:
It was such a pleasure to meet you guys! Thanks for having me out to meet your sweet girlie.
Even though we didn’t do the pureed carrots until late in the photoshoot, I have to post them first because I LOVE these pictures. Big boy C adores his carrots, grabbing the spoon away from his mama with gusto each time :)
Mmm… and the eyelashes? Awesome.
Knuckle dimples in the background…
A real Jumperoo fan:
And mama tells me this is a signature face from Mr. C, with tongue.
Jen, it was fantastic to see you again and meet you for real. Thanks so much for having me out.

People ask me if I’ve ever shot a wedding, and I tell them I’ve only done a few of them, and that babies are more my thing. But whenever they ask, I think of this incredible couple – my husband Evan’s best friend since he was two and Sash was born, FORTY YEARS AGO yesterday. (Happy belated, Sash!)
I shot their wedding back in 2007…
their first son’s newborn pictures in 2008, then his 7 month and 14 month old pictures… and then newborn pictures for his perfect sister last summer, and now a couple of weeks ago… her six month pictures.
But first – look what that wonderful marriage a few years ago brought us :)
Isn’t she lovely?
Not sure which thumb-sucking picture I like better. This one?
Or this one?
The similarity between this next pair of photos is pretty cool. It’s an old pic of H at 7 months on the left, and one from this shoot of L at 6 months on the right.
20 tiny toes…
Loved spending time with you guys as always.

I’ve been a terrible blogger this month, I’m so sorry. I’m rushing to get everyone’s photos edited and out to them as fast as I can, and that often means sacrificing the blog posts, and I’m sorry about that.
So Evan and I always say if we were to move anywhere in the world it’d be San Francisco. I love it out there. But it’s FAR! It’d be hard to leave all our friends and family, not to mention all my wonderful clients. But I’ll admit a part of me was jealous when these guys moved out there last winter – we’d just done their 2nd son’s newborn pictures, and so I was also sad to see them go. Imagine my surprise when I got an email from this mama saying they’d be in town and could I take pictures of their now 1 and 3 year olds.
For people who have fun like this? I couldn’t say no.
These are the two handsome dudes, inside sitting still for just a minute:
And the fun part of this shoot was that because they were only in town for a few days, we got to double up the photoshoot with a big monster playdate they were having with tons of their Boston friends. An old bud of big brother S’s:
They got some run-around outside time:
Even little C got to show off his run-around skills:
And some tickles from his mama:
We got some new babies:
And some old friends — beep beeeeeep…
And even some grins from a little guy who didn’t feel so well…
It was wonderful to catch some time with you guys while you were in town.
