Not too sleepy to be adorable

When I arrived today for almost 4 month old G’s photos, we weren’t sure if she was going to want to catnap before we started taking photos, but she decided to rally like a champion!

Isn’t she beautiful?

to her fantastic smirk…

She was just four months of perfect. OK, well maybe her mom and dad would request a bit more sleep before we can use the “perfect” description… but other than that, just amazing and gorgeous.

They got the photoshoot as a shower gift from Dad’s brother – so thanks go out to Mark… I think we got some great ones!

OK, maybe just one more cute sparkely eyed shot… love her pinky finger in this one:

And last but perhaps my most favorite one of all – a delicious mama squeeze. I remember when my Annie was this size, and the smell of her little neck was just so amazing, nothing in the world like it. And it doesn’t last, that sour-milk/soft neck yummyness…

This photo just evokes that for me. Gorgeous girls.

Thanks for a wonderful session today – all your photos will be ready within the week.

A Surprise for Dad

I arrived at this family’s house at 5:45pm on Wednesday – yikes, you might say – why so late? Well Dad takes a class on Wednesday nights, and it was our one chance to get Father’s Day photos of the kids all together without him knowing about it. So my mom did Annie’s daycare pickup and I got to have fun shooting in late afternoon light – a rarity for me.

So I’ll admit I was nervous… a 5:45pm start time? The witching hour? How was it going to go? But I was so pleasantly surprised! These guys were awesome, the sweetest big sister (14 yrs) and wonderful big brother (12 yrs) – and little brother (3 yrs) did so well with the late hour.

8564, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

What a handsome guy. I love S’s smile in this one – so genuine! Can you tell he’s about to leap up into a tree here? Even in his nice shirt :)

And here’s a giggly C, being amused by his brother and sister.

8535, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And gorgeous K – hanging out in one of the amazing trees near their house. We got to run around within the coolest huge trees during the shoot… the light was so beautiful – and it was fun to boot.

8630, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

They just had such fun together.

So the expression you see on C’s face here is a reaction to perhaps the most stubborn dandelion ever… after blowing, blowing and blowing on it, those little seedlings just wouldn’t let go. Made for a great shot, though.

8690, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

So his sister stepped in to help… eventually they did get the seedlings to come loose from the dandelion, but it took a lot of work!

8699, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And I couldn’t finish up blogging this session without a quick memory from December of ’05 – little C with his dad. And as I always mention when it’s a surprise for dad photoshoot – shhhh – if you know these guys, don’t mention it to Dad, OK?

Great to see you guys again. Your photos will all be ready by the end of the weekend.

Lightsabers and dandelions

Big (7 yr old) brother M and little (4 yr old) brother C were the most perfect whiriling dervishes ever. We zipped from activity to activity with boundless energy, having more fun with each as we went along. They showed me their dandelions:

Their lightsabers:

They flopped on the grass…

And showed off their rock-climbing skills:

They even graced me with a few classic smile-at-the-camera moments…

They climbed a tree:

And last (but never least) we played Legos.

I loved getting the chance to meet you guys, and I can’t wait to show you the rest of the pictures. We got some great ones. They’ll all be ready by the middle of next week.

Two times the Father’s Day fun

I’m in a Father’s Day mood because I’ve spent much of the past few days designing Father’s Day photobooks – so I’m sorry if this is a bit early… but isn’t this the best daddy moment? The girls thought their dad was just too hilarious.

I met these girls when they were teenie little 8 week old cuties last fall, and now they’re gorgeous nine month old ladies. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again – I love 9-10 months old photoshoots, and this one had fun times two.

4336, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

I should introduce you. First of all, this is B, and she’s got eyelashes to beat the band.

4392, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And here’s S, also sporting some killer eyelashes.

4410, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Their dynamic together is fantastic. Doesn’t it look like they’re sharing a great secret here?

And S with mom, loving the belly zrr-burt (sp?).

I experimented with looking at your web site in my new iphone 4 and the page layout doesnt seem to be correct. Might want to check it out on WAP as well as it seems most smartphone layouts are not really working with your web page.

although i fully understand the drive to push content to users faster, and that a faster site, is (usually) one that's enjoyed more by a user, i have the following issue:everything that is within my control loads nice and fast. i am doing all the required cashing, keepalives, compression, etc.but all the 'external' items i DO NOT have control over, are slowing my site down, at least according to google webmaster tools (and various other testing methods…) :/in particular the advertising networks i am using.what (if any) is googles opinion on this?

3 years later – the grins continue

I met this adorable girlie in the summer of 2005 when she was just 14 months old. (Summer ’05… this means her sweet mom met me at the door on Sunday morning and said “Wow, you look great!” I wasn’t sure what she meant, and then I remembered… I was roundly pregnant when she last saw me… hehe, so yes, now I am super slim in comparison ;)

But S has such an infectious grin. Here are some shots from back in ’05, first…

2010, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Don’t you love the huge grin and the 14 mo old teeth? Not to mention the twinkling eyes…

And back when she was the only little one – some snuggling book time with her mom and dad…

2057, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And now, some shots from Sunday morning. Here’s big girl S, with her little sister S… aren’t they gorgeous? I think little S looks so much like her big sister did in the older photos, it’s great.

See what I mean about the smile?

3962, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And here’s little sister S, with a pretty fantastic grin of her own.

3977, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And I might have a new favorite family photo here… I just love this one. The way the two sisters are looking at each other. Granted, I do have a new favorite on an almost hourly basis… but this wins this hour, hands down! Love it.

This one says Boston to me so much – the brownstones in the background (not to mention the fantastic tongue on little S here!)

And one last mom and big girl S moment to bookend this post (since I started with one). Nice hug.

All the rest of your photos will be ready within the week. Great to see you guys again – I look forward to seeing you in the fall for holiday card stuff!

Fun with two bilingual cuties

I spent this morning’s first photoshoot with an incredibly sweet Norwegian family who’ve been here in Boston for about a year now. It was interesting for me to notice how much I do (and don’t) rely on language to interact with kids. I’d say something, and then hear their dad translating for me… and it made me think about other ways of communicating – very cool.

And now I might just have to gush about the fun we had playing outside! The weather was incredible, and the kids had a blast playing outside in the garden.

3890, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

I started out inside with E, as he showed me his Legos. I love this expression, with the dimple…

And L loved chasing butterflies in their garden.

The wonderful tree swing made for some great photos.

And an hilarious daddy with his girlie.

3908, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

I love inchworm season! So many great moments of cuties playing with them. And I don’t mind holding them, either, so I get to feel cool when I play with little boys. Now if we were talking about holding something with creepy crawley legs, that’d be a different story…

3813, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Just one more moment to prove how fun this family was… the kids were having fun climbing up to the top of their fantastic wooden playhouse, so to get the family shot, Mom and Dad both climbed the ladder and straddled the playhouse roof too. You can’t tell here, but Mom’s still on the ladder in this one. What good sports!

It was great to meet you guys this morning. Best of luck back in Norway. The rest of your photos will be done by the middle of this week!

Ice cream and stinky feet

Had a fun morning Wednesday with these two cuties. And no, their feet weren’t stinky… but boy was the idea of stinky feet hilarious :)

3642, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

We had some nice inside time first, enjoying a good book in mom’s lap.

3551, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Their mom was such a help – I loved their dynamic with her… they thought she was hilarious, which was a big help for me :) Love the way the sun is creeping into the photo on the left of this one…

3705, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

So I know I’m a real nerd but I’m just sitting here alone giggling at this picture. The perfectly messy faces, the ice cream spoon poking out, and the expression on both of these faces… Just too much. And the fact that big bro is sitting on the step in front of little sis, so it almost looks like they’ve been cut out of two totally separate photos. It just makes me laugh out loud – I love it.

3695, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

One handsome boy…

3634, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And one beautiful girl…

3571, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And one last one of J, the big brother. I had a great time talking superheroes and Shrek popsicles with him (who knew they had green caramel within a popsicle? Learn something new every day…), and I just feel like this shot captures his “almost five-ness” perfectly. He is such a good storyteller.

3657, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And last but certainly not least, the most verbal little 17 month old, miss J. She had such great expressions, and communicated so well, I was impressed. Look at those eyes, and her fantastic big waves in her hair.

If you know these guys, shhh, don’t tell about the photos, because it’s a surprise for their dad, ok?

It was a pleasure getting to know you guys today. The rest of the photos will be ready for you within the week!

Mother’s Day with three moms

The second shoot I had on Mother’s Day had a bonus – three moms all in one session. I met B (the mom on the left in this photo) at one of my Pottery Barn Kids photoshoots back in the fall of 2005 when she (and I) were both about to pop with new babies. (Her “new baby” from back then is the little blondie on the right, now 2 1/2.) She invited her sister and mother for Mother’s Day photos this year, and to commemorate the mom focus of the day… all the blog photos from this session are of moms – from both generations.

3030, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

So we start with the three beautiful moms…

3097, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And Grandma with her three cuties.

3073, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

I love this one next to the other grandma one — big hugs.

And you can’t beat a crazy swinging picture with mom…

3196, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And a not-so-crazy swinging picture with mom, too :)

And here are the boys from their first in-home photoshoot last fall. Look at those grins!

And here’s one last one from J’s first photoshoot with me back in the fall of ’05 at Pottery Barn Kids. Don’t you love those eyebrows?

Thanks for the fun Mother’s Day photos, guys – all the photos will be ready by the end of the week!

Three grins and a trip to the park

What a difference three months makes! I met these guys in February, when the twins were only 3 months old, (see just a few of those pictures here) and now, at six months, they’re so big! Big sister A continues to be super cooperative, and I’m just so sad they’re moving in a few weeks! I hope you can come back and visit.

Holding heads up high now!

2842, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

The biggest girl, with the biggest smile.

2810, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And I think this one just backs up my idea that not everyone has to be looking at the camera to make a fantastic family photo. We got other ones with everyone looking at me, but for some reason I just love this one. Maybe it’s just me… but I just love Mom looking down at the kids in this one. It’s very Mother’s Day-ish :)

2762, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Flying high… You know me and the flying high pictures… I love ’em.

2791, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And one more…

2806, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Oops, one more again. Here’s two flying together… they’ve got their own personalities that are so obvious already. Really fun to see how much they’ve changed since February. So many fun ones on the swings, but I have to stop blogging and start working… All the pictures will be ready for you this week, guys!

Ducks and the water, twice

We had such perfect weather today, I was so thrilled to be using the day for photos. I hate when those gorgeous spring days zip past without a shoot booked! So I was thrilled when T’s mom called me yesterday and said, can we possibly do photos before Mother’s Day? And yay, I had a free day, so we went for it. This first shot is a new favorite of mine – I love the Pru in the background and T’s arm stretching up so high…

2667, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

All you Bostonians are starting to recognize the spot, right? And do you believe the two swans visiting the Public Garden today came over to visit when T was at the water?

2550, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Now, here you can get a good look at this big gorgeous boy! He’s 18 months old, and he loved running around and playing.

2575, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Love T’s fantastic lips in this one…

2662, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Riding the beloved Mack. Or is that Jack or Lack?

2616, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Just one more with T and his beautiful momma. They had a blast playing together today, and wait ’til you scroll down a bit and see our Nantucket pictures from last summer with T’s grandmother – you can see the resemblance — three generations of beauties!

2672, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And before we finished up today, we couldn’t forget T’s beloved Nanny. We needed to capture some moments of them playing together – he has such a great time with her.

2680, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Now I had to call this post “Ducks and the water, twice”, because the first time I did T’s photos we were out on Nantucket last August (I usually do a few days of sessions out there each summer), and his grandmother (yes, I didn’t mistype that – she’s really his grandmother… gorgeous, isn’t she?) had me join them at a tiny pond where there were more ducks than I’d ever seen before. Incredible.

6400, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Looking back at these makes me realize how much T has grown since August – amazing! He wasn’t standing on his own back then, and he was just such a cute little baldy…

6519, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

T, giving us his almost 1 year old wave, as a sneaky duck appears behind him. All today’s photos will be ready soon – thanks for a great day today and last summer, guys!

Two beauties over the years

Look at these girls, zipping down the slide this afternoon! It was such fun to see B and M today, after taking photos of them when they were leetle leetle guys… and now to see how big they’ve gotten is just amazing. First I’ll share a few great ones from today, then I’ll go back in time to two and three years ago…

2314, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

Here’s big 5 1/2 year old B today. So gorgeous and such a big girl!

2354, originally uploaded by Boston Baby Photos.

And now big girl M, the one who was just a little girl of one when we met. Now she’s practically grown up at 3 and a half, and just perfect.

And then for some reason I just love this one – I think it’s the jumprope catching the sunlight, it’s M in the background, it’s B’s pantlegs, a bit too long… just perfect.
